Subletting Laws in Missouri

Guidance from the Missouri Attorney General says that tenants must get written approval from the landlord before they sublet.

In Missouri, you can sublet if you're going away for a defined period of time or if you want to move out before the lease is over. In either case, you must get your landlord's approval in writing.

Be extra careful to follow these instructions. Unlike other states, a landlord can double your rent if you sublet without approval in Missouri.1
