Getting Approval for a Sublet in Alaska
Alaska's Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act provides tenants with very specific instructions for requesting landlord approval for a sublet.
What to Send
Include the following information:
- Your proposed subtenant's name
- Your proposed subtenant's age
- Your proposed subtenant's current address
- Your proposed subtenant's marital status
- Your proposed subtenant's occupation, place of employment and name and address of employer
- Two credit references for your proposed subtenant
- The names and addresses of all of their landlords within the past three years
Not sure how to start? Here’s an example letter. Insert your address and subtenant information and you should be good to go.
How to Send It
Although the state law does not demand that you send your request any particular way, it's a good idea to send it certified mail, return receipt requested, no less than 30 days before the proposed sublet would begin.
