Getting Approval for a Sublet in Arizona

Arizona laws do not specify how you should send a request for approval, so stick with common sense: make sure your landlord understands why you wish to sublet, the basic terms of your proposed sublease and the criminal and rental history of your proposed subtenant as well as their financial situation.

What to Send

Prepare as much information on your situation and your proposed subtenant as possible. We've created this sample sublet request letter that you can customize and send to your landlord.

Screen your applicant and send your landlord a full rental application. Attach it to the request letter along with a copy of your sublet agreement.

How to Send It

Send this along with your sublet agreement to your landlord. You can use whichever means of communication you usually use to get in touch with them, but make sure to have written evidence of your correspondence.

Ask them to sign your sublet agreement. Both you and your subtenant should have a copy of the signed sublease.
